Register Here

Celebrate spooky season with fellow Boise Young Professionals. Sign-up to volunteer at October’s b|involved event - Sweet and Spooky Locktober Event with The Idaho State Historical Society! Whether you’re a member or just wanting to have fun and learn more about BYP, all are welcome!

Sweet ‘N Spooky night features trick or treat stations around the site where visitors can add to goodie bags, and add to their knowledge of the Old Idaho Penitentiary. Experience their newest exhibits and take some new stories home with you! Attendees will be provided with a bag for goodies.

Volunteers are needed on October 29th from 6:30 PM to 9 PM. Volunteers can choose to show up in family friendly costumes and run “Cell Treat Stations” or be “Site Patrol” if they’d prefer not to dress up. Once registered, the BYP event lead will send out an email to all registered to provide an opportunity to meet members prior to the event and to connect volunteers with the Idaho State Historical Society event manager to have additional questions answered.

Cell Treat Stations: Dress up in a family friendly costume, prison stripes and guards are encouraged but not required, and distribute candy to visitors. We will provide you with gloves and masks required. (up to 25)

Site Patrol: Walk a particular section of the site to ensure our site rules are being followed. This will require you to learn where restrooms and activities are located (provided in advance). Additionally, you may have to remind visitors about important rules regarding social distancing, mask-wearing, no running/climbing, etc. (up to 10)
